JOB VACANCY: Stabilisation Centre Supervisor

Job Purpose
The Stabilisation Centre Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Stabilisation Centre (SC). This role ensures the effective and quality clinical management of children suffering from Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) with complications. The supervisor will lead clinical staff, ensure adherence to national and WHO protocols, and work towards improving recovery outcomes and reducing mortality rates.
Key Responsibilities

Supervise the admission, treatment, monitoring, and discharge of SAM patients with medical complications in line with WHO and national CMAM/SC protocols.

Ensure the appropriate and rational use of therapeutic foods, medications, and medical supplies.

Monitor patient progress and provide technical guidance and mentorship to clinical staff.

Conduct regular ward rounds to uphold the quality of care and ensure compliance with treatment protocols.

Provide on-the-job training and mentorship for nurses, nutrition assistants, and other SC staff.

Organize and deliver refresher trainings on case management, infection prevention and control (IPC), and the monitoring of critical patients.

Monitor stock levels and manage the requisition and accountability of therapeutic foods, medications, and other supplies.

Ensure accurate documentation and timely reporting of patient data including admissions, discharges, mortality, recovery, and defaulter rates.

Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance reports.

Support the MEAL team in quality checks and data verification activities.

Coordinate with community health workers, referral health facilities, and ambulance services for patient transfers and follow-ups.

Represent the SC in relevant coordination meetings at both facility and project levels.

Ensure strict compliance with IPC protocols, including hygiene and waste management.

Supervise facility cleanliness, patient safety, and adherence to safety protocols.
Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Medicine, Public Health, Nutrition, or a related field.

At least 3 years of relevant experience managing inpatient care for malnourished children, preferably in humanitarian or emergency settings.

Solid knowledge of national and WHO CMAM/SC protocols.

Proven experience in clinical supervision, data reporting, and staff training.

Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Fluency in English (written and spoken); knowledge of local languages is an asset.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong negotiation and coordination abilities.

Documented achievements related to the core responsibilities of this role.
