GOALPrime Organization Nigeria (GPON) is a non-governmental and nonprofit organization that strife to make life of vulnerable women and children better through revitalized partnership. GPON provides life-skill education and psychosocial support to conflict-affected, WaSH community or camp services, Education in emergency services, Gender-based Violence mitigation services, Child protection service, Protection monitoring services, Nutrition and public health services. GOALPrime has reached over 50,000 vulnerable children and women with life support and life-changing services in the northeast Nigeria. GOALPrime is partnering with UNICEF, Irish Aid, Nigeria Humanitarian Fund (NHF) to reach and support vulnerable children and women in North-east Nigeria.
We are recruiting:
Position: MEAL Associate
Location: Ngala, Borno State
Duration: 10 Months
Reporting to: MEAL Officer / Project Manager
Job Summary:
The MEAL Associate is responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning activities within GOALPrime’s projects in Ngala LGAs. The role involves designing and implementing MEAL systems, collecting and analyzing data, and ensuring that project activities are tracked, evaluated, and reported accurately to improve program quality and impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Develop and implement MEAL plans for projects, ensuring that they align with donor requirements and organizational standards.
- Design and use data collection tools and methodologies, such as surveys, focus group discussions, and interviews, to gather relevant information.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor project activities, verify data, and ensure the quality of data collected.
- Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to assess the impact of project activities and identify areas for improvement.
Accountability:
- Establish and maintain accountability mechanisms, such as feedback and complaint systems, to ensure community participation and transparency.
- Collect and respond to feedback from beneficiaries and stakeholders in a timely and effective manner.
- Ensure that accountability findings are integrated into program planning and implementation.
Learning and Reporting:
- Document and share lessons learned and best practices from project activities to inform future programming.
- Prepare regular MEAL reports, including progress reports, impact assessments, and case studies, for internal and external audiences.
- Organize learning events, workshops, and training sessions to build the capacity of volunteers and stakeholders.
Data Management:
- Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and security of data collected and stored.
- Maintain comprehensive databases and data management systems for tracking project performance and outcomes.
- Use data visualization tools and techniques to present findings effectively to different audiences.
Collaboration and Coordination:
- Work closely with program staff to ensure the integration of MEAL activities into project design and implementation.
- Participate in coordination meetings with other NGOs, government agencies, and stakeholders to share MEAL findings and promote collaboration.
- Support donor reporting requirements by providing accurate and timely MEAL information.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Statistics, Economics, Public Health, International Relations, or other relevant fields.
- A postgraduate diploma or master’s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Project Management, or Data Science is an added advantage.
- Professional training or certification in MEAL, data analysis (SPSS, STATA, Power BI, or Excel), accountability, or humanitarian project management is highly desirable.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 2–3 years of proven experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) within the NGO/humanitarian or development sector.
- Strong experience in designing and implementing MEAL frameworks, including logframes, indicators, and data collection tools.
- Hands-on experience conducting quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, including surveys, FGDs, and KIIs.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain data management systems and databases securely and effectively.
- Familiarity with donor reporting requirements and ability to produce accurate and timely reports.
- Experience establishing and managing accountability mechanisms, such as complaints/feedback response systems, particularly in community-based settings.
- Previous experience in capacity building and training of staff, volunteers, or community stakeholders on MEAL processes.
- Strong understanding of the humanitarian context, preferably with experience working in Northeast Nigeria or similar conflict-affected environments.
Languages
- Fluency in English and Hausa, other spoken languages in the community, is an added advantage.
