Our client is Nigeria’s leading provider of relief products and solutions, serving both local and international organizations operating in rural development, emergency response, and crisis management. They support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by partnering with humanitarian, public health, and development actors to combat hunger, reduce health disparities, improve education, and address displacement.
Their solutions include first disaster response kits, educational supplies, medical equipment and
consumables, and related logistics support. The organization’s reach spans across Nigeria and several African countries, making it a critical partner to the continent’s most prominent NGOs and development agencies.
III. Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Procurement Manager – Humanitarian Aid to lead and manage procurement operations within Client. This role is critical in ensuring that all procurement activities for donor-funded and humanitarian projects are timely, cost-effective, and fully compliant with client and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate must be well-versed in humanitarian procurement protocols and possess strong vendor management and negotiation skills.
IV. Job Responsibilities
- Procurement Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement effective procurement strategies tailored to humanitarian client needs.
- Support the bidding and tendering processes for NGO procurement opportunities by providing accurate costings and supply timelines.
2. Vendor & Supplier Management
- Identify, prequalify, and manage a reliable pool of vendors who can supply relief-focused goods and services.
- Negotiate contracts that ensure value for money, quality, and adherence to delivery timelines.
3. Order Fulfillment & Contract Execution
- Coordinate end-to-end procurement of relief materials for institutional clients (NGOs, INGOs, government partners).
- Ensure prompt issuance of purchase orders, follow-up on deliveries, and resolve any supply chain bottlenecks.
4. Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure strict adherence todonor-specific procurement guidelines (e.g., USAID, UN, EU, DFID).
- Maintain accurate procurement records, including quotations, POs, delivery notes, and vendor contracts.
5. Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with Sales, Finance, and Logistics teams to align procurement plans with project timelines and client requirements.
- Provide regular reports on procurement status, risks, and cost optimization to the Head of Client.
V. Required skills and qualifications
a. Core competencies
- Exceptional communication and relationship management skills.
- Strong understanding of humanitarian aid, relief supply chains, and donor-funded project cycles.
b. Education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in procurement, preferably with experience servicing NGOs or working within the humanitarian aid sector.
- Strong understanding of donor procurement regulations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and vendor management abilities.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills.
- Familiarity with humanitarian relief goods, kits, and project-specific supply needs
- Exposure to public sector tendering and RFP submissions.
- Experience working with international suppliers and global sourcing strategies.
- Familiarity with inventory management software and ERP systems.
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Sales Growth Contribution: Measure the impact of purchasing decisions on overall sales revenue.
- Cost Savings Achieved: Evaluate the effectiveness of negotiations and cost reduction initiatives.
- Inventory Turnover Rate: Monitor how quickly inventory is sold and replenished.
- Supplier Performance & Compliance: Assess supplier reliability, quality, and adherence to contract terms.
- Market Trend Adaptation: Measure how well procurement strategies align with emerging industry trends.
- Stock Availability: Ensure optimal product availability and minimize stock outs.
- Customer Satisfaction Ratings: Evaluate consumer feedback on product selection and quality.
