About the Organization
Centre for Community Development and Research Network (CCDRN) is a local Non-governmental organization (NGO) in Nigeria with its head office in Kaduna. CCDRN partners with communities, philanthropists, government and donors to provide sustainable community development services in the areas of conflict resolution, peace building, economic empowerment, agriculture, health, education as well as governance. With funding from humanitarian donors for programs to engage in several interventions including but not limited to food assistance, livelihoods, cash transfers and capacity building of humanitarian response actors.
About the Job
Job Title: Communication Manager
Location: Kaduna North, Kaduna
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Purpose
The Communication Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for all CCDRN communication activities.
S/he steers the organisation’s public image, oversees the production of high-quality content, and ensures consistent, audience-focused messaging that advances CCDRN’s humanitarian, peace-building and development objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and periodically update a results-oriented communication strategy fully aligned with CCDRN’s corporate plan.
Advise the Executive Director and senior management on communication trends, reputational risks and opportunities.
Embed communication considerations into all programme designs and workplans.
Communication Planning:
Create annual and project-specific communication plans that define objectives, target audiences, key messages, channels, timelines and KPIs.
Lead stakeholder analyses to refine audience segmentation and channel selection.
Design and manage CCDRN’s social-media calendar, engagement tactics and performance dashboard.
Content & Materials Development:
Oversee the production of reports, press releases, briefs, newsletters, web copy, multimedia and donor-facing materials.
Ensure accuracy, clarity, brand consistency and timeliness of all outputs.
Work with programme teams to source and craft case studies, human-interest stories and success narratives.
Brand & Image Management:
Maintain and enforce CCDRN’s visual-identity guidelines across print and digital assets.
Monitor external mentions, flag reputational issues and coordinate responses.
Conduct periodic brand audits and recommend improvements.
Team Management & Capacity Building:
Supervise and mentor communication officers, interns and consultants, fostering a culture of innovation and learning.
Deliver training and on-the-job coaching for programme staff and partners on storytelling, social media and media relations.
Stakeholder Engagement & Media Relations:
Develop tailored engagement plans for donors, government, communities, partners and the media.
Cultivate relationships with journalists and influencers; organise press briefings, field visits and interviews.
Support partnership development initiatives that amplify CCDRN’s voice and reach.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting:
Set measurable communication indicators and track performance against targets.
Prepare monthly dashboards and narrative reports for senior management and donors, highlighting impact, lessons and recommendations.
Other Responsibilities:
Represent CCDRN in external forums, working groups and clusters as delegated.
Perform any additional duties assigned by the Executive Director to advance organisational objectives.
Required Skills and Experience
Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in communication or public relations, with at least 3 years in a humanitarian, peace-building or development context.
Proven ability to design and execute comprehensive communication strategies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Hausa proficiency is an asset.
Strong analytical, creative-thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Advanced user of MS Office, Adobe Creative Cloud and social-media management/analytics tools.
Demonstrated experience supervising teams and providing capacity-building support.
