Job Title: Head of Construction

Location: Dugbe, Ibadan, Oyo
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports Directly to the Head of Operations

Job Purpose

  • The Head of Construction will oversee all construction projects, manage site operations, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. 
  • This role involves leading a team of construction workers, architects, and all related talents to construction, coordinating with contractors, and reporting directly to the Head of Operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all construction projects from inception to completion.
  • Supervise site operations, ensuring timely delivery within budget and quality expectations.
  • Lead, train, and motivate construction teams, ensuring efficiency and safety.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure compliance with designs and specifications.
  • Develop project schedules and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Monitor material procurement and inventory to minimize wastage and cost overruns.
  • Ensure all construction work adheres to Nigerian building regulations, safety standards, and environmental laws.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify and resolve construction issues.
  • Prepare and submit progress reports to the Head of Operations and other stakeholders.
  • Drive cost-effective solutions while maintaining quality and safety.
  • Liaise with government authorities and regulatory bodies for permits and compliance.
  • Implement strategies to improve construction efficiency and workforce productivity.

Requirements
Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Building Technology, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in construction management, preferably within the real estate sector.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale residential or commercial construction projects.
  • Membership in relevant professional bodies (e.g., COREN, NSE, NIQS, NIOB) is an advantage.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian construction codes, safety regulations, and building standards.
  • Experience with budgeting, cost estimation, and project scheduling.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Excellent understanding of construction methodologies and materials.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to travel to different project sites across Nigeria.
  • Possessing a valid driver’s license is an advantage
  • Experience in sustainable construction practices is an added advantage.
