Center for Advocacy, Transparency and Accountability Initiative (CATAI) was established in 2018 as a registered NGO with Head Office in Maiduguri – Borno State, with offices across Yobe and Adamawa state. We have been visible in Borno Adamawa and Yobe states implementing projects in Education, Protection (Child /GBV), WaSH, Nutrition, Empowerment/Livelihood, Governance, and Peace Building. Our approach is aligned with our mission to enhance service delivery and empower citizens, through our Humanitarian, Development, and peace-building nexus (HDP).
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Driver (Female / Male)
Locations: Borno and Mubi, Adamawa
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Duration: 6 months
Department: Procurement/Logistics Department
Reports to: Logistics Officer
Duty Station: Maiduguri (strictly female), Mubi (Male)
Overall, Purpose of the Role
- The Driver will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of staff, goods, and project materials. She will ensure proper vehicle maintenance, compliance with traffic regulations, and support logistics operations to facilitate smooth programme implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Transportation Services:
- Drive to authorized destinations safely and on time
- Support the transportation of programme supplies, equipment, and documents
- Ensure adherence to approved movement plans and security procedures
- Observe all traffic laws, road safety standards, and organizational driving policies
- Ensure passengers use seat belts at all times
Vehicle Management & Maintenance:
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections (fuel, engine oil, brake fluid, tyres, lights, radiator, battery, etc.)
- Ensure vehicle cleanliness and good condition at all times
- Schedule timely servicing, repairs, and maintenance in coordination with the logistics officer.
- Immediately report any mechanical faults, damages, or accidents
Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks, fuel consumption records, and movement tracking forms
- Ensure vehicle documents are valid and available (license, registration, roadworthiness, etc.)
- Support incident reporting and follow established accident procedures
- Ensure compliance with organizational safeguarding, safety, and security policies
Logistics & Operational Support:
- Assist in loading and off-loading programme materials when required
- Support procurement errands such as the collection/delivery of documents or supplies
- Provide basic administrative/logistics support when requested
- Support emergency transport needs when required
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Strong defensive driving skills and road safety awareness
- Good knowledge of local terrain Mubi and Maiduguri routes, and communities
- Ability to interpret maps, directions, and movement plans
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
- Time management and punctuality
- Ability to work under pressure and in insecure environments
- Respectful attitude towards colleagues, beneficiaries, and partners
- Team player with a willingness to support programme operations.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum Secondary School Certificate
- Valid National Driver’s License
- Minimum 3–5 years of professional driving experience
- Previous experience working with NGO / INGOs / UN agencies is an added advantage
- No history of major traffic violations
- Ability to communicate in English and local language(s)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrated diplomacy, professionalism, and understanding of international humanitarian and human rights principles
- Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to teamwork and accountability.
