State Support Facilitator at Vitamin Angels

Vitamin Angels (VA) works to improve maternal, infant, and child nutrition outcomes by supporting the delivery of evidence-based nutrition interventions, including Vitamin A Supplementation and Deworming (VAS+D) and Multiple Micronutrient Supplements (MMS). In Nigeria, VA collaborates with federal and state government institutions, implementing partners, and community-level actors to strengthen nutrition service delivery, monitoring, and data systems.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: State Support Facilitator

Location: Ilorin, Kwara
Employment Type: Contract

Background

  • To support the effective implementation of state-level nutrition programming and/or evaluation activities, including MMS and VAS+D interventions, VA seeks to engage a State Support Facilitator.
  • The role will provide on-the-ground coordination, technical assistance, and operational support in assigned states to ensure the timely and high-quality delivery of activities in line with approved protocols and agreed timelines.

Purpose of the Role

  • The purpose of the State Support Facilitator(s) role is to support the effective implementation, coordination, and monitoring of Vitamin Angels–supported nutrition interventions at the state and LGA levels in their assigned geo-political zone.
  • The State Support Facilitator will facilitate seamless coordination between the Vitamin Angels team, state, and LGA-level actors and will support the planning, execution, and oversight of state and LGA-level activities to ensure alignment with government systems and VA programmatic standards.

Scope of Work
The State Support Facilitator will undertake the following tasks:
Programme Implementation Support:

  • Support the implementation of VA-supported nutrition interventions at state, LGA, and health facility levels.
  • Coordinate and track commodity distribution from state partners to the LGA level.
  • Support VA partners in Kwara/Imo/Plateau states to adhere to VA’s operational guidelines, protocols, and activity timelines.
  • Facilitate and support VA advocacy activities at state and LGA levels, as needed, including attending coordination and planning meetings.
  • Coordinate and help plan for field activities such as training, workshops, or meetings, including coordination of logistics, transportation, accommodation, and material preparation.

Stakeholder Coordination and Engagement:

  • Coordinate and facilitate state-level meetings and engagements with State Ministries of Health, State Primary Health Care Development Agencies (SPHCDAs), LGAs, and relevant departments, including Nutrition, M&E, and Primary Health Care in their specific geopolitical zone.
  • Maintain regular engagement with health facility staff, LGA officers, and implementing partners to support effective implementation of activities.
  • Support the documentation of stakeholder meetings, including minutes, action points, and follow-up actions.

Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Support:

  • Conduct routine monitoring visits to LGAs and health facilities as assigned.
  • Assist in data collection, verification, and validation activities related to program partner reports (quarterly).
  • Support Data Quality Assessments (DQAs) and joint monitoring visits.
  • Compile field-level data, observations, and lessons learned for reporting to the VA MEL Specialist.
  • Conduct market surveillance using VA’s Market Surveillance tools to help prevent the diversion, sale, or merchandising of donated commodities in the open market.
