Program Manager (SCION Project) at Youth Development & Empowerment Initiative (YEDI)

The Youth Development and Empowerment Initiative (YEDI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering young people through evidence-based programs. Since 2011, YEDI has reached over 480,000 young people across Nigeria, with offices in Lagos and Abuja.

Our programs focus on building young people’s assets, facilitating access to health services, and promoting healthy behaviors in schools and communities.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Program Manager (SCION Project)

Location: Lagos

About the Role

  • Are you passionate about driving social change and empowering young people?
  • YEDI is seeking a dynamic, creative, and committed Program Manager to design, lead, and scale a new high-impact youth development initiative under the SCION Program.
  • This role goes beyond traditional program management. We are looking for a changemaker who can develop and implement an innovative program that addresses key challenges affecting young people in Nigeria.
  • The selected candidate will have the opportunity to design and lead a pilot project (“proof of concept”) fully funded by YEDI for the first six months.

Program Focus Areas
Applicants must propose a program that addresses one of the following strategic focus areas:

  • Health & Sanitation – Improving access to healthcare, mental health support, disease prevention, and reproductive health education.
  • Climate Change – Promoting environmental sustainability, climate action, renewable energy solutions, and conservation initiatives.
  • Women’s Empowerment – Supporting gender equality, leadership development, economic opportunities, and access to education for young women.
  • Youth Unemployment – Providing employability skills, entrepreneurship training, and innovative job creation solutions.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:

  • Hold a university Degree
  • Have at least 5 years of experience in the nonprofit or social sector
  • Be based in Lagos, Nigeria
  • Be between 25 and 35 years old
  • Demonstrate a track record of working in one of the program focus areas
  • Present a clear and scalable vision for a program that creates measurable impact
  • Demonstrate strong responsibility, discipline, and leadership
  • Show a passion for youth development.
