1. Programme Officer: Environment

Reports to: Programme Manager

Position Summary

DEC seeks a proactive and results-driven Programme Officer: Environment to support the design and implementation of community-based environmental sustainability and WASH initiatives. The role involves working closely with communities, schools, and stakeholders to promote climate resilience and sustainable environmental practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Community Mobilization: Lead initiatives on environmental sustainability and climate adaptation.
  • Establishment of Committees: Set up Environmental Committees in schools and local communities.
  • Green Initiatives: Implement tree planting, waste management, and “waste-to-wealth” programs.
  • WASH Support: Facilitate infrastructure support and conduct Village Level Operation and Maintenance (VLOM) training.
  • Sanitation & Energy: Promote sanitation campaigns and clean cooking energy solutions.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation: Conduct baseline assessments, monitoring visits, and technical reporting.
  • Climate Resilience: Support early warning systems and climate resilience mechanisms.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or HND in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Agriculture, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Health, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in environmental or WASH programming.
  • Strong experience in community mobilization.
  • Excellent facilitation, monitoring, and reporting skills.
  • Willingness to travel to rural communities.

2. Project Officer: Microfinance

Reports to: Microfinance Manager

Department: Microfinance

Job Purpose

The Project Officer will plan, coordinate, and execute microfinance projects across designated states, ensuring delivery within time, budget, and quality standards. The role includes stakeholder management, risk monitoring, performance tracking, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implementation: Plan and oversee end-to-end implementation of microfinance projects.
  • Project Scoping: Define scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Risk Management: Monitor project progress and manage potential risks.
  • Budget & Quality: Ensure delivery remains within budget and meets organizational quality standards.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive project documentation and records.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Coordinate between internal teams and external stakeholders/donor partners.
  • Reporting: Regularly report project performance to management.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of First Degree or HND.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and modern project management tools.
