Strategic Leadership Opportunity for the MCGL Nutrition Project in Ebonyi State
The WOCHAD Initiative (Women, Children, Aged, and Disabled Initiative) is a non-for-profit community-based organization dedicated to uplifting the rural poor, marginalized, and disadvantaged populations across Benue and Ebonyi States. Since 2007, WOCHAD has implemented extensive development programs, covering everything from WASH and sustainable agriculture to maternal health, education, and human rights advocacy.
We are seeking an experienced, visionary leader to take the helm of our critical health and nutrition programming. We are recruiting to fill the senior position below:
The Opportunity: Project Coordinator
Job Title: Project Coordinator Location: Abakaliki, Ebonyi State Employment Type: Contract
The Project Coordinator will provide overall technical and operational oversight for the MCGL Nutrition Project. This senior role requires a proven track record in project management, team leadership, and stakeholder engagement to ensure high-quality, impactful service delivery across multiple Local Government Areas (LGAs).
Key Responsibilities
The Project Coordinator is responsible for the full project lifecycle, from planning to reporting:
- Technical & Operational Leadership: Providing the overarching technical and operational direction for the MCGL Nutrition Project.
- Planning and Execution: Developing comprehensive annual workplans, corresponding budgets, activity schedules, and robust implementation frameworks.
- Coordination & Quality: Ensuring meticulous coordination of project activities across supported LGAs, guaranteeing quality service delivery and timeliness.
- Team Management: Overseeing all aspects of team supervision, coaching, performance monitoring, and general team management.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Leading high-level engagement with key partners, including SPHDA, LGA health departments, community structures, and relevant NGOs.
- Compliance and Accountability: Conducting regular field visits for quality assurance, ensuring strict compliance with all donor and organizational policies, including safeguarding mandates.
- Reporting: Overseeing the preparation and timely submission of accurate donor reports and all necessary project documentation.
- Representation: Representing WOCHAD in high-level technical working groups and state-level review meetings.
Requirements: Your Qualifications
This is a senior role requiring demonstrated expertise in managing complex, donor-funded projects:
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Social Sciences, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree is highly preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ experience managing donor-funded projects in sectors such as health, nutrition, Family Planning (FP), TB, or HIV/OVC.
- Skills: Proven expertise in leadership, budgeting, team management, and multi-sectoral stakeholder coordination.
- Competencies: Strong communication, advanced analytical writing, and excellent problem-solving abilities are essential.
- Advantage: Experience overseeing multi-LGA programming will be considered a significant advantage.
